German Shorthaired Pointer

A canine jack-of-all-trades, the German Shorthaired Pointer is a versatile hunter that can point, flush and retrieve. In Australia he is used on an extremely wide range of game including quail, ducks, pigs, foxes, kangaroos and rabbits. He has a superb nose and can work over any kind of terrain, in any kind of weather.

He is a powerful, agile, well-balanced dog, possessing great intelligence and animation. Not happy as a lapdog or flat dweller, the German Shorthaired Pointer needs space to stretch out and have a good gallop. Provided you can give him the amount of exercise he needs, he makes a very appealing family pet. Friendly and affectionate, the "G.S.P.", as he is popularly known, makes a quiet, companionable and easy-going member of the household.

His attractive sleek coat with its distinctive liver patches and white flecks, or lovely chocolate colour of the solid livers, is waterproof and virtually maintenance free.
